Rarely seen, an English Art Nouveau ring in an unusual Gothic style featuring a traditional oval panel of Heliotrope or Bloodstone. This Bloodstone plaque is a wonderful example of the stone which was used for centuries as a seal in dark green Jasper with rich 'spots' of red Haematite. In rich, buttery 15ct yellow gold (a standard used in the UK between 1854-1932), this piece is in fabulous condition with exquisite foliate details to the shoulders, the fine lines of which continue around the whole band. Really striking, with an unusual classical feel, it has a full hallmark inside the band allowing us to date it to 1900 and includes also a maker's mark for Vaughton and Sons of Birmingham. The ring size is an 'O and a half' or US '7' but it is possible to adjust the size a wee bit to fit. The plaque measures 11mm by 13mm.
